A friend was just telling me right after the Academy Awards about the abundance of modest fashion on the red carpet this year, and I couldn't agree more! Here are my four absolute favorites starting with the superwoman herself, Gwyeneth Paltrow looking seriously, seriously amazing in this Tom Ford piece. I mean, that cape? Come on. Genius. Shailene Woodley's Valentino Couture was so flattering. The fit was impeccable and I for one think she looked lovely. And I'd wear that. Um, except for the cutouts.. are those see through?
Louise Roe's custom Black Halo design was incredibly ladylike. Loved it. And wait, what do we have here? A real Muslim? No way. Yes way. Iranian actress Leila Hatami, whose film "A Separation" won an Oscar, wore this light, filmy, long sleeve, high neck, floor length dress with a scarf draped over her head. Although not my favorite, girl can wear whatever she wants. She's walking the red carpet at the Oscars and her movie just won. So yea. Get it, girl.

I loved Shaileen Woodly's dress as soon as I saw it. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Leila looks like Arwen from TLOTR=)
ReplyDeleteI love the the Tom Ford one. The cape and how it is attached to the dress is stunning! The valentino. mmm...only if the chest area is not peep-through, I would love it. Though, it reminds me of a wedding cake.LOL. I love Leila's dress, but that curl is so annoying. Scissors please!
ReplyDeletethe cape makes that whole dress! and leila is stunning, even with the weird placement of the scarf on her head!

Oh gosh, me too!
ReplyDeletehahaha... i can kind of see it
ReplyDeletelol, I agree, something could have been done about the hair :)
ReplyDeleteAnd totally agree about the chest area!
I know, it's so different. I just want to stare at that cape all day..
ReplyDeleteI like the cape, too. At first I thought it was kind of strange...but its growing on me. Recently, some celebrities have been so conservative. Loving it.
ReplyDeleteI personally liked Leila's Dress a LOT. because she is Muslim and her choice is limited compared to other celebrities...sadly most think she made the WORST dressed celebs of 2012...it makes me sad. but I loved her look.
ReplyDeleteI did`nt liked Leila`s dress.but we should know that they wanted to go back to their country and their government would`nt let them in if they did`nt wear an islamik dress! so she had no choice!
